MaxKB
An open-source platform from FIT2CLOUD for building enterprise knowledge-base Q&A apps and agents, combining a RAG pipeline, a visual workflow engine and MCP tool calls with support for both local and hosted models.
About MaxKB
Companies that want AI answers over their own documents, or agents that call internal tools, often lack the engineering capacity to assemble retrieval, workflows and model integrations themselves and need to keep the deployment on their own servers.
Who it’s for
- IT teams in companies building internal knowledge-base assistants or customer-service bots on their own servers
- Teams that want to orchestrate RAG and tool-calling workflows visually and connect private models such as DeepSeek, Qwen or Llama
When to consider it
Consider MaxKB when you want a self-hosted, Docker-deployable platform that takes a team from document Q&A to workflow-based agents, and you are comfortable with a product whose paid edition and support are aimed mainly at the Chinese market.
Tradeoffs & limitations
- The Community Edition is GPL-3.0 licensed and free with no limit on users, agents or knowledge bases, but it lacks role-based access control, single sign-on, the open API, third-party chat app integrations (WeCom, DingTalk, Feishu, Slack and others) and ARM installers; these require the Professional Edition at ¥48,000 per deployment (perpetual licence with one year of maintenance, then ¥9,600 per year) or the Enterprise Edition, which is quoted by sales.
- Each licence covers one deployment instance for one end customer; multi-tenancy and cluster deployment are Enterprise-only.
