About Browser MCP

Browser automation for AI agents usually starts a fresh headless browser, so agents cannot use sites you are already signed in to and you cannot easily watch or stop them.

Who it’s for

  • Developers who want their coding agent to test or operate web apps in their real browser session
  • People using MCP clients who want browser actions to stay on their own computer

When to consider it

Consider Browser MCP when you want agents to work in visible tabs of your own Chromium browser through a local daemon on 127.0.0.1, with a one-time pairing code and a Stop button.

Tradeoffs & limitations

  • Works only with Chrome or other Chromium browsers (Edge, Brave, Arc); Firefox is not supported because it lacks the debugger API.
  • Licensed under Apache-2.0; the project asks that modified extensions or servers published for others use a different name and icon.
