About Beam

Agents need isolated machines to run code and keep state, and GPU apps need to scale to zero, but running your own VMs and Kubernetes clusters for this is slow to set up and costly when idle.

Who it’s for

  • Developers giving coding or computer-use agents their own isolated VMs and sandboxes
  • Teams serving open models or batch GPU jobs that should scale to zero when idle

When to consider it

Consider Beam when you want agent sandboxes, persistent VMs and serverless GPU inference on one platform, billed only while workloads run.

Tradeoffs & limitations

  • Usage-based: VMs start at $0.0306 per hour, sandboxes at $0.319 per hour for 1 core and 8 GiB, and on-demand H100 machines at $1.83 per hour. Plans are Developer at $20 a month (with $20 of credits), Team at $89 a month plus usage, and custom Growth; the Developer plan is limited to 5 concurrent GPU containers and 1 seat.
  • The open-source runtime (beta9) is AGPL-3.0 licensed. Bring-your-own-cloud runs in your own cloud account for a management fee of $0.019 per vCPU-hour and $0.009 per GB of RAM per hour on top of your cloud bill.
